VELODROME
Cancelled due to snow and high winds, but LUCAS won by default by being the only person to turn up and ride a lap... chapeau!

POLO
Everyone who made the trip out in that bizarre weather to play polo is a winner

BULL ISLAND RIDE
Leaving Crumlin at 5.30am to ride out to Bull Island in a stupid headwind, these people are legends...
Andy
Jamesie
Mimi
Che

KARAOKE
Stellar performances all-round, but my personal tope 3, in no particular order would have to be:
25 Seans eccentric version of 'White Lines'
Bens politically charged 'Hail to the Chief' version of 'God Save The Queen'
Jamesies heart wrenching verion of 'Like a Rolling Stone'.

MASSACRE
It was a tough one to call as there were some outstanding performances over the weekend, Rob with his continued dominance of most of the track events, Jamesie with his world-beating circles and capacity for madness, Muller and Sean with their propensity for nakedness, but when all was said and done, and after much deliberation it was decided the overall prize should go to Andy from Ohio, making his 2nd trip over for the Massacre he won the Mel Gibson Logistical Challenge, rode to Bull Island, took part in most events, and ripped it up in karaoke. A Worthy winner and now an honourary Dubliner...

So, another weekend is finished, thank God. A great success made possible by so many people.
Big thanks to Steve for magnificent organising of Friday nights alleycat, 25 Sean for being our resident dj, Andy, Ryan and Jamesie for making the trip over to see us, all the marshalls who helped out over the weekend, and a big shout to our sponsors as well; Knog lights, Seagull bags, Trackstar, Alleyhats, Cycleogical.
Of course I'm forgetting people, but hey, they know who they are, you know who they are, that's all that matters.

Thanks to everyone in Dublin for making this a continued success, lets keep the momentum going and make CMWC as amazing as it can be.

See you all in August, and then of course next year so we can do it all again...

Sponsors

*New Sponsor*
The wonderful and not seen enough Kate has been busy and made us some of her fantastic 'Alleyhat' hats! They are sweet... you'll be lucky to win one...

Completely forgot to add a list of sponsors so here goes... (and we're still working on a few more).

Seagull Bags
Giving us an awesome custom bag for the overall winner of the weekend, should have a pic up soon.

Knog
Sweet company from Australia.

Cycleogical
Dublin's premier bling bike shop and rainy day hang out.

We will also have some sick t-shirts for sale and the usual spokecards with both alleycats.

Um.... Timetable of Events(Subject to change dependent on alcohol consumption...)

Finally feel we can commit to some sort of a proper timetable, but as anyone who has come here before will know, this can all change as we get drunk/tired/fall over...

Friday 16th:
8pm Tonehenge, St. Stephens Green(N/E corner)
The Bull Run, 33 Steve's bovine themed alleycat. The 1st of our season and sure to be hotly contended.

After party possibly in Carnival on Wexford St., we're waiting for confirmation of our booking, if not this night then we definitely have it booked for Saturday, I'll let ye know.

Saturday 17th:
2pm Wilton Place
Sprints(with added corners!!!), Skids!, Circles! Trackstand!

6pm The Factory 35a Barrow St.
Out-of-towners alleycat. This one is a favourite with all the in-towners as well, although
they are just competing for pride, they aren't eligible for any schwag. The route remains
the same every year, a straight shot up and down the quays, making it difficult for our visitors to get lost(difficult, but not impossible...).
Winner of this gets the coveted Mel Gibson Logistical Challenge Trophy, and must return the next year to defend it(or at least post it back to us...).

There will be a few games of 'money where your mouth is' footdown before or after the race too, so bring your euros and body armour.

After party again to be confirmed, maybe Carnival, maybe Voodoo lounge, maybe we'll go crowd surfing in my living room again... we'll see.

2am?3am?4am? Traditional Bull Island Group Ride.

For the hardcore among us, our yearly ride to Bull Island to bask in the glorious cold and darkness. For the hard of constitution only, but definitely something that has to be experienced.

Sunday 18th:
2pm Eamon Ceannt Park, Sundrive Road. Velodrome racing.

This was a great success last year. A few hours of sprints, pursuits, miss and out, and whatever other races we can physically manage at this stage.

Hope to get some polo going after the track, gotta scout a location near the velodrome, I'll update as soon as I know.

6.30pm Fireworks! Always a nice way to round things off, we'll find a good vantage point to watch the citys big fireworks display, who doesn't like fireworks!

Final party should be in the Village on Wexford St. Rock 'n' Roll karaoke. I had no voice and was in bed at this stage last year, but I've seen the pictures and it seems a perfect way to end the partying. Don't forget monday is a Bank Holiday so don't fret about having to get up for work!!!

I'll update this when things are locked down for sure so check back often.
See you all next week! I'm sooooo excited!!!!!!

Massacre IV, March 16th to 18th 2007

Sooo... here we are again...

It's that time of the year again. Time to start planning the mayhem that is the Paddy's Day Massacre. Last years event was an unparralelled success, and we want it to keep going that way. So once again there's an open invitation to the world to come and sample the delights that Dublin has to offer, being... em.... alcohol... parties... and lots of bike riding... with very little sleep.

No timetable as yet, but I will update this blog as things progress. There will be the usual main Paddy's Day Race on Friday night, out of towners race on Saturday, and hopefully some track time on the Sunday or Monday. Add to that the usual sprints, skids, circles, footdown, trackstand, polo(it will happen this year I promise) and there is really no reason for you not to come.

So anyone wishing to come drop me a line here, and ayone who might be interested in sponsoring we would LOVE to hear from you. Last years prizes were fucking great, so we'll hopefully get another great stash for all those willing to brave the weekend.

Ok, peace out, get thinking about flights etc... and I'll add to this soon.

Oh, and if anyone wants to submit some ideas for logos please feel free. We will be getting t-shirts spoke cards, maybe stickers and patches as well.

Peace!
Graham

Results 2006

Ok, so here goes with results of the maddest weekend I've had in a long time. I'm not sure I'll ever really get over it, forget it, or remember some of it. Cheers to everybody that helped out; Rob for making sure I didn't go insane, Chris and Ben for helping us marshall on Fri night at possibly the most hectic alleycat we've seen, Steve for sorting out the decks on Fri night and rocking the joint along with Cliffy and Sean(oh the nakedness...), Liz for being the hostess with the mostest, Gromada for going above and beyond the call of duty to sort out the t-shirts and patches, and everyone in Dublin and from abroad who came and made this one of the biggest and most successful weekends of messenger event we've had in Dublin; roll on the worlds...

Fri Night Alleycat:

1st: Al
2nd: Sean and Adam
3rd: Will and John
4th: Murt and Brad
5th: Colin
6th: Ed
7th: Tom
8th: Danny/Fergus/Cuan

This was one of the most complicated alleycats to garner results from. The first few placings were easy but after that it got a bit murky. It's taken me all afternoon sifting through results to sort out the final standings.

Oh and DFL: All the girls. Should really have gotten a prize for most creative answers. I've never seen myself being raped by a horse before, it was an interesting image...

Sprints:

1st: Rob
2nd: Donnacha(sorry if I spelt that wrong man)
3rd: Big John

Footdown:

Round 1: Nate
Round 2: Dotc
Round 3: Ed

Props to Jack for coming 2nd in this with only one properly functioning hand. He rocked it all weekend.

Put your money where your mouth is round: Jamesie

Trackstand:

1st: Zak
2nd: Mimi/Richie
3rd: Jamesie

Out-of-towners alleycat:

Well Lizard and Fergus arrived back first but hot on their heels was the one-handed-wonder Jack who stormed to be our first visitor across the finish line.

DFL: Lee. His chain came off and he realised that most Dublin people don't know their own city very well. We were beginning to get worried but he eventually made it back to claim DFL and brings home with him St Patricks Handlebars.

Velodrome:

Unknown Distance: Jack
Devil take the hindmost: Zak
Sprints: Rob
Win and out: 55 John

And congratulations to team Ireland for winning the first Ireland vs. NY/Glasgow Italian pursuit.

In fact congratulations to anyone who made it down to the track to race on Sunday. I know I felt like vomiting after my first lap, and that feeling didn't leave me all day!

So that's it for this year. i hope everyone had a ball and I look forward to seeing everyone back next year, maybe for a more low-key weekend as we do have the worlds coming up next summer.

Look out for some photos here and on my profile, Robs profile, dublin messengers forum, in fact everywhere we can fit them.

One more quick shout out to all the sponsors:

Trackstar, Reload(amazing bag), Rapha, Gromada, Cyclone.
